The particle emitter size dependence on energy in e + e − annihilations into hadrons

چکیده

The nearly energy independent hadron emitter dimension r, measured in e+e− annihilation in the energy range 10 to 91 GeV via the Bose-Einstein correlation of two identical charged pions, is shown to be well accounted for by choosing the hadron jets as independent pion sources. To this end the known normalised factorial cumulant moments dependence on particle sources is adapted to the Bose-Einstein correlation formalism to yield a relation between r and these sources. This approach is also able to account for the measured r values obtained for the Z0 decays into two and three hadron jets. Finally the estimated r value of the hadronic Υ(9.46) decay via three gluons is expected to be higher by about 6 to 11% over that predicted for its one photon hadronic decay mode.

Hadronic Final States in e+e−-Interactions and their Relevance to Cosmic Rays

Elementary particle aspects using beams from accelerators and cosmic rays are compared. An important feature in high energy physics is particle identification in the final state. This technique is used to describe global features of ee-annihilations such as multiplicities and multiplicity distributions of charged hadrons and the relative fractions of pions, kaons and protons. Also the character...

Apacic++, a Parton Cascade in C++

In this talk the newly developped Monte–Carlo event generator APACIC++ suitable to describe multijet–events in high–energetic electron–positron annihilations is presented. A new ansatz to match the corresponding matrix elements for the production of jets via the strong and electroweak interactions to the subsequent parton shower modelling the inner–jet evolution is discussed in some detail. Res...

Multiplicity Fluctuations in One- and Two-Dimensional Angular Intervals Compared with Analytic QCD Calculations

Multiplicity fluctuations in rings around the jet axis and in off-axis cones have been measured by the DELPHI collaboration in e+e− annihilations into hadrons at LEP energies. The measurements are compared with analytical perturbative QCD calculations for the corresponding multiparton system, using the concept of Local Parton Hadron Duality. Some qualitative features are confirmed by the data b...

Signatures of Flux Tube Fragmentation and Strangeness Correlations in pp Collisions

In the fragmentation of a color flux tube in high-energy pp collisions or e-e annihilations, the production of q-q̄ pairs along a color flux tube precedes the fragmentation of the tube. The local conservation laws in the production of these q-q̄ pairs will lead to the correlations of adjacently produced hadrons. As a consequence, the fragmentation of a flux tube will yield a many-hadron correlati...
